A great worldwide organization showcasing emerging art
with meetings and events. They have Dorkbot groups in various cities, such
as San Francisco,

Here, they have an excellent and massive list of links of technology-related organizations.
Great organization since 1988. They are a network
of artists who either use or are inspired by science and technology. ASCI also
produces exhibitions of kinetic art, interactive light art, solar art,
digital prints, and a Womentek exhibition. They've produced
four ArtSci international symposia on collaboration, and the ArtSci INDEX,
an online matching tool for potential collaborators. The send out a comprehensive monthly ASCI
eBulletin (for ASCI members).
Great site. Eyebeam is an art and technology center providing tools for digital research and experimentation.
Excellent site and a great organization. One of our
top-five choices. They showcase emerging art, events, and background info on
artists.
SIGGRAPH (Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics)
is the premier organization of computer graphics, 3D, visual effects, and computer
animation. They host a yearly conference in August of about 25,000 people.
They show the best digital graphics and animation of the year, have technical
sessions for experts, and courses for everyone else.
Ylem is a San Francisco-based group that focuses on
artists using science and technology. They have a list of artists with
links of their art. They also host events where artist/scientists demonstrate
their work.
They create humorous and provocative biotech art.
They have international links of artists, events, organizations,
and e-zines related to the electronic arts.
This was the class web site on science and art for a
course Lynda Williams taught at the San Francisco Art Institute.
ArtsLab is a Leonardo/ISAST project supported by a grant
from the Rockefeller Foundation.
They have some great links and resources from high profile art activists.
Stephen Wilson is a professor of Art at San Francisco
State University. He has compiled a massive list of links related to all aspects
of art and technology. This is a great resource.
This Oakland-based organization teaches industrial grade fire arts, such as welding and smelting, has frequent fire-based performances, and has great pyrotechnic/fire/high-voltage theatrical events.
An annual event of 40,000 people focusing on radical
free expression, art, fire, and technology. It must be the largest art show
on earth - showing art that burns, moves, is interactive, and goes on all
night. It's an amazing event.
They hold an annual aerial robotic competition. They
also have links and videos on this site.
Symbiotica is an artistic laboratory in Australia dedicated
to the research, learning and critique of life sciences.

GIA is an organization that serves grant makers. They

He founded Softimage (a major 3D animation program
and company) and with his money he created this excellent organization supporting
technology
and the arts. It's a great looking site, too! Check out the amazing art projects
he funded. Yet, funding, for now, has ended.
Artadia's mission is to encourage innovative practice
and dialogue across the United States by providing visual artists in specific
communities.
Great group. Turbulence has commissioned over 110 works
($450K) and exhibited and promoted artists' work through its Artists Studios,
